Milan are reportedly planning to move for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema this summer, making the player a figurehead in the new regime.
According to Tuttosport, the Frenchman is the number one target for the Rossoneri leadership for 2017-18.
Such a high-profile player will generate revenue in terms of merchandising, however Los Merengues are unlikely to let the 29-year-old leave for an insignificant fee.
The newspaper suggests that the club would request a figure of €60m, a sum only within reach of Milan once a takeover has been completed. A date for the agreement to be finally completed has been set for next week, however the operation has been subject to numerous postponements.
With the report suggesting that the payment could be made in installments, the Rossoneri would be able to hand over just €20m in the first year, plus a significant loan fee.
