Simone Inzaghi said Lazio “would do well to keep” Keita Balde Diao after his hat-trick in a 6-2 demolition of Palermo.

It was a thumping start at the Stadio Olimpico, going 5-0 up within 26 minutes, as Keita got a five-minute hat-trick.

“We put in a great performance and it was a very important game for us, so we got it locked down,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

It was a thumping start at the Stadio Olimpico, going 5-0 up within 26 minutes, as Keita got a five-minute hat-trick.

“We put in a great performance and it was a very important game for us, so we got it locked down,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“We relaxed a bit too much in the second half and conceded two avoidable goals. The lads did well and, as I said after the Sampdoria game, I saw a reaction.”

Lazio switched to 3-5-2 in the second half, so was that a practice session for next week’s Derby della Capitale with Roma?

“During the week I evaluated with my staff and we chose this system. I don’t know if it’ll be the system we use in the derby, I’ll have to evaluate those conditions too.

“We know what awaits us against Roma. We’ve already played four derbies this season, so we know that the week leading up to it never seems to end. We’re in good shape and will try to play at our best.”

Considering Keita has until now been treated as a super-sub, can this hat-trick make a difference in contract renegotiations?

“These lads are doing great things. Naturally, Keita is a player I’d always like to have, just like Lucas Biglia and Stefan de Vrij. They are three top players that Lazio would do well to keep.”
