Eusebio Di Francesco is confident Sassuolo deserved their 2-2 draw against Napoli. “It was almost perfect tactically.”

The Neroverdi had been trailing a Dries Mertens header, turned it around through Domenico Berardi and Luca Mazzitelli, only for Arek Milik to snatch a late equaliser.

“We put in a good performance, although in terms of quality we probably did better against Roma last week,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“We put in a good performance, although in terms of quality we probably did better against Roma last week,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“It was almost perfect tactically, as the lads did practically everything I had asked of them. When there was a mistake, they scored the goal, and on the second Antonino Ragusa was out of position.

“It was a fair result against an opponent that creates huge problems for everyone they face. It’d be nice to allow Napoli no chances at all, but that’s probably impossible.

“There is this Italian mentality that teams let go at the end of the season when there’s nothing to play for, but I fight that because it’s a dream for these players to be in Serie A and can never be taken for granted.

“I was forced into my substitutions by various injury problems.”

Di Francesco was asked about his future, having been linked with the job at Fiorentina or Roma.

“I will meet with the club. More than anything else, it’s my choice now, tied to my sensations and ambitions. Sassuolo cannot aim for the Champions League right now, their target is to help young players grow.

“If I choose to continue that, then we have to be realistic.”
