Palermo caretaker Coach Diego Bortoluzzi has inevitable “regrets” after the 1-1 draw at Chievo sealed their relegation into Serie B.

The drop was avoided last week thanks to a surprise 2-0 victory over Fiorentina, but their fate could not be dodged any longer.

“The biggest regret today is that we were unable to score in the final minutes,” Bortoluzzi told Rai Sport.

“The biggest regret today is that we were unable to score in the final minutes,” Bortoluzzi told Rai Sport.

“The performance was certainly positive and the players deserve credit for taking the right approach and fighting to the end, despite the fact relegation was practically certain.

“I cannot judge the entire season, as I wasn’t here, but since I have arrived the players have worked well with the objective of ending in the best possible way.

“I have to say, I was even surprised by this attitude in training. We want to end with our heads held high.”
