Napoli have reportedly turned their attentions to Bayer Leverkusen’s Bernd Leno as a possible Pepe Reina replacement.

Reina has been in shaky form at times this season, and was reportedly insulted by club President Aurelio De Laurentiis at the team meal.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport believes Coach Maurizio Sarri wants the goalkeeper to stay at least until the end of his contract, due to his influence in the dressing room.

That has cause the Partenopei to reconsider a move for Wojciech Szczesny, who has spent the past two seasons on loan at Roma from Arsenal.

The Polish international would command significant wages, and would not be happy with a place on the bench, meaning he would represent an expensive gamble.

Napoli are therefore looking at Leno, who is 25 and has European and international experience, but could rotate with Reina, at least initially.

The other names under consideration are Lukasz Skorupski, who is on loan at Empoli from Roma and Alex Meret, the Udinese goalkeeper on loan at SPAL.

The latter would be bought and then loaned back to SPAL for their first Serie A season.
