Bologna have officially confirmed the signing of French centre-back Sebastien De Maio.

The 30-year-old joined Anderlecht last summer, but lasted just six weeks – and two League games – before being loaned back to Italy with Fiorentina.

During his time with the Viola he made six Serie A appearances, and they opted not to sign him outright but it has now been confirmed that he’ll continue his career at Dall’Ara.

“Bologna FC 1909 announces the permanent signing of the defender Sebastien De Maio from Anderlecht,” a short statement on the club’s website confirmed.

De Maio was born in Saint-Denis and came up through Nancy’s youth system, but he has spent his entire professional career in Italy, brief spell in Belgium aside.
