Inter lost their friendly to Bundesliga 2 side Nurnberg 2-1, but Borja Valero made his debut in the Nerazzurri jersey.

The friendly was already overshadowed before it began by news Ivan Perisic, heavily linked with a Manchester United move, left the training camp to see his dentist in Croatia for an abscess.

Borja Valero did make his debut in a two-man midfield with Geoffrey Kondogbia, building on the 4-2-3-1 approach.

Samir Handanovic was kept busy from the start, fingertipping an Eduard Lowen effort on to the upright, and Marcelo Brozovic missed an early sitter.

Bundesliga 2 side Nurnberg took a deserved lead on 55 minutes when goalkeeper Daniele Padelli’s poor clearance allowed Lowen to send Rurik Gislason clear for an angled drive.

Moments later, the Germans doubled their tally, as again poor defending left Mikael Ishak totally unmarked to volley in at the back post.

Eder pulled one back for Inter, springing the offside trap on a smart Gabigol through ball, but Hanno Behrens and Ishak wasted golden opportunities to add a third for Nurnberg.

Jeison Murillo flicked a Brozovic free kick and a clumsy Georg Margreitter intervention turned it on to the crossbar.

The squad will leave next week for a tour of China and Singapore.
