Devis Mangia felt Craiova failed to take their chances and conceded an avoidable goal in the 1-0 Europa League defeat to Milan.

The former Palermo and Italy Under-21 Coach is now in charge of Romanian club Craiova.

“We did all that we could in the circumstances. Clearly, when you are up against a side like Milan, you need to take the chances you are able to create,” Mangia told Sky Sport Italia.

“We did all that we could in the circumstances. Clearly, when you are up against a side like Milan, you need to take the chances you are able to create,” Mangia told Sky Sport Italia.

“It doesn’t help if you concede on a naïve moment from a free kick… Considering the whole game, it was not a bad performance.

“The team should feel satisfied at being in this situation. I told the side to play their game and we’ll do the same at San Siro. We’ve got an equally important game coming up this weekend, so it’s a busy time for us.”

The second leg is at San Siro on Thursday August 3.

“The best thing is seeing the players work hard during the week. They have great potential, we know that we have to improve tactically, and I am convinced we can get stronger.

“The first time I spoke to the owner of the club, he told me we have to grow step by step, investing in the squad, the infrastructure and the stadium. There are sides in Romania who invested huge amounts and we want to catch up with them.”
