Vincenzo Montella says André Silva “reminds me of someone who made history with Milan”.
The 21-year-old joined the Rossoneri from Porto this summer for €38m, but he didn’t start in the first competitive game of the season away at CSU Craiova.
“He can play as a first or second striker,” Montella explained to Premium Sport after today’s Press conference.
“He’s strong and technical, he reminds me very much of someone who made history with Milan, but I’m not going to say who…
“Am I talking about Marco van Basten? He has to adapt to Italian football, he’s a prospect with a great future.”
The Coach also confirmed that Riccardo Montolivo won’t be captain for this season, with reports Leonardo Bonucci will inherit the role.
“When new owners arrive, spending so much, it’s normal that they’d ask for a new captain, a new image. They have every right to.”
The second leg of the Craiova game takes place tomorrow, with the Diavolo holding a 1-0 lead from the first leg.
“It’s a decisive match, even if we have a small advantage,” Montella said.
“It’s dangerous, but we’re excited to see a full San Siro and I want to thank all the fans. We need to feed on this love and support.
“For years they [the fans] haven’t been able to dream, they wanted Milan.”
