Craiova Coach Devis Mangia admits Gianluigi Donnarumma’s saves disheartened his players in both legs of the Europa League preliminary round.

The Rossoneri won 1-0 in Romania and followed it up with a 2-0 victory at San Siro this evening, but Donnarumma made decisive blocks in both matches.

“It’s not easy coming to play in this stadium,” Mangia told Mediaset Premium.

“We played our game, Milan clearly had the supremacy, it’s just a shame we conceded twice on set plays and had the chance to score ourselves. Who knows what would’ve happened if we had managed to equalise?

“Donnarumma did well in both legs, I’m sorry for Ionut Mitrita as his confidence was hit in the rest of the game and he kept thinking about that miss.

“In the first leg he tried to place it low and Donnarumma got it, in the second he tried to smash the net and Donnarumma got it anyway.

“Tonight Milan were missing the entire central spine, namely Leonardo Bonucci, Lucas Biglia and a centre-forward. They have everything it takes to have a great season. The problem is there are many big clubs who want to finish in the top four.”

This match set a new record for Europa League preliminary rounds with 65,763 tickets sold.

“It’s true that as a child I was an Inter supporter, but regardless of Rossoneri or Nerazzurri, it’s wonderful for football to see San Siro packed and the city so enthusiastic.”
