Juventus Coach Max Allegri believes “people didn’t understand the importance of what we did” to reach the Champions League Final in Cardiff.

The Bianconeri played their second Final in three years, but again emerged defeated, this time 4-1 to Real Madrid.

“It’s really disappointing, because people didn’t understand the importance of what we did,” Allegri told Mediaset Premium.

“Right now nobody is talking about it, but in future they will all realise the value of what we achieved.

“Unfortunately, that’s always the way. Maybe we’ll win the third Final. In any case, this year we’ll have another great Champions League campaign.

“We had a good first half against Real Madrid. The danger was in the second half, especially as Mario Mandzukic and Miralem Pjanic were basically limping.

“Real understood the difficulties of the game in the first half, but when they realised that they could step on the gas, they did just that. It’s what great teams have to do.”

There were numerous reports from several different sources on the supposed clashes between players at half-time in that Cardiff locker room.

“Nothing happened at half-time,” continued Allegri. “I honestly had great fun this summer reading the things people had invented… it would be impossible to make a film of everything people say happened in Cardiff.”

Juventus have not won the Champions League since 1996 at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico, beating Ajax on penalties.
