Leonardo Bonucci is only the third man to be given the Milan captain’s armband on his debut after David Allison and Giuseppe Meazza.
The former Juventus defender was immediately handed the responsibility after his club record €42m transfer.
According to the Corriere dello Sport, this has only happened twice before in the last 118 years.
The others were Allison and, most recently, Meazza – 76 years ago.
Meazza was such an important figure for both Milan and Inter that the stadium at San Siro was named after him.
