Keita Balde Diao was “profoundly hurt” by Lazio leaving him out of the Italian Super Cup squad. “I don’t know how to evaluate the consequences.”
The striker has put in a transfer request and wants to join Juventus, who his team are facing in tomorrow night’s Super Cup.
Officially, the Senegal international was left out of the squad due to a muscular problem, but he took to social media to deny that was the case.
“The lack of a call-up for the Super Cup Final has profoundly hurt me,” wrote Keita on Twitter.
“It is the first important match of the season, for which I had prepared and was ready for action.
“The decision made by the club, which evidently had nothing to do with purely sporting criteria, puts me in a psychologically uncomfortable position and right now I don’t know how to evaluate the consequences of that.”
His contract with Lazio is due to expire in June 2018, so in theory he could agree terms with another club in January and leave next summer as a free agent.
Juventus have offered around €15m for the forward, but the Aquile want over €20m.
