Luciano Spalletti had an early warning for Dalbert on his Inter debut, but slammed want-away Geoffrey Kondogbia. “He is damaging himself and wants it too easy.”

The Nerazzurri beat Real Betis 1-0 this evening in their final pre-season friendly thanks to a Mauro Icardi penalty.

“We struggled to win back the ball, but Betis know how to move the ball well. We allowed them a few chances, but we had four of our own.”

The Nerazzurri beat Real Betis 1-0 this evening in their final pre-season friendly thanks to a Mauro Icardi penalty.

“We struggled to win back the ball, but Betis know how to move the ball well. We allowed them a few chances, but we had four of our own.”

Dalbert made his debut just days after completing the transfer from Nice.

“He is young, he wants to immediately make an impact and show his qualities. But he got the first two or three moves wrong and then lost his confidence, misplacing passes and feeling less free to play his game. He should relax and focus. He did well defensively.

“We need to improve our passing and possession, as when we did win it back, there were spaces that we didn’t take advantage of. There were a few errors that I don’t expect from my team.

“At this moment we are very short in defence, especially as Andrea Ranocchia has a recurring inflammation of the tendon and needs to be evaluated. It seems unlikely that Jeison Murillo can play next week, though I’ll have to see what the directors tell me tonight and tomorrow.”

Murillo is on the verge of a €13m transfer to Valencia and Kondogbia wants to join him, which is why he refused to turn up to training.

“Kondogbia has been very disappointing and his behaviour does not reflect the person we know. He is damaging himself with this behaviour.

“He wants to go to Valencia on loan and save a bit on his wages, but he wants it too easy… When there is something you don’t agree on, you find a middle ground. Considering the money spent on him, it’s difficult.

“In my view, Kondogbia was given some bad advice, as this sort of attitude is just not part of his personality.

“Kondogbia is strong and has been paid as a strong player, so if there aren’t the right conditions for him to go, then he’s staying here. We’ll evaluate whether to sign someone else in the middle, but I won’t let a quality player leave without a quality replacement.”

On the other hand, Manchester United appear to have abandoned their attempts to sign Ivan Perisic.

“Perisic is determined to remain. He spoke like a player who wants to do well and be professional.”
