Joao Cancelo was in tears as he said goodbye to Valencia fans this evening, having played his final game before the transfer to Inter.
The defender was inconsolable at the Mestalla after the 1-0 Liga victory over Las Palmas, decided by Italy international Simone Zaza.
“Thank you for everything Valencia,” he wrote on Instagram.
“You will always be in my heart. I wish you all the best in the world!”
Cancelo waved goodbye to the fans in floods of tears and was surrounded by his teammates after the final whistle.
He is due to make the move to Inter over the next couple of days, in an exchange of loans with option to buy with Geoffrey Kondogbia.
The 23-year-old Portuguese right-back joined Valencia in 2014.
He made 91 competitive appearances for the club, scoring four goals with nine assists.
