Giovanni Simeone, Marco Benassi, Valentin Eysseric and German Pezzella are all called up for the trip to San Siro.

“Pezzella is a little behind in fitness terms, as he only trained with us for the first time today, but everyone is in decent shape,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Simeone is fired up, just like all the new players who arrived this week. I am convinced we’ve done great work and will reap the rewards.

“We cannot know where we’ll get to this season, but we must be ambitious, taking it one game at a time. We have signed some talented young players and must adopt the mentality of a side that wants to win every single match.”

It’s a very special opening round fixture, as Pioli faces the club that fired him a few months ago, while Borja Valero and Matias Vecino immediately meet their past.

“I will be excited because I begin a new adventure. The past is behind us now and all that interests me is the current campaign. I don’t know what the others will feel and frankly it doesn’t interest me that much either.

“Inter pretty much always won in pre-season, confirming the capabilities of Luciano Spalletti. Inter have so many strong players that just talking about one is reductive. However, we start at 0-0 with 11 players on each side, so it’s unfair to talk about favourites now.”

Fiorentina will not be able to count on Kalinic, who abandoned training to force through his transfer to Milan.

“I said from the start that these situations need to be resolved as soon as possible, both for the club and the player himself. Of course, his behaviour was unprofessional, but evidently something went wrong in this case.

Milan Badelj is feeling much better now, while Riccardo Saponara is still a little inconsistent and I hope he can be available soon.”

Federico Chiesa sits out a ban.

Fiorentina squad for Inter: Astori, Badelj, Benassi, Cerofolini, Cristoforo, Dias, Dragowski, Eysseric, Gaspar, Hagi, Khouma Babacar, Milenkovic, Olivera, Hrstov, Pezzella, Sanchez, Simeone, Sportiello, Tomovic, Veretout, Hugo, Zekhnini
