Nice boss Lucien Favre hopes to have Mario Balotelli and Wesley Sneijder back against Napoli but insists Jean Michael Seri “will be with us”.
Balotelli and Sneijder both missed the first leg of Nice’s Champions League playoff against Napoli, which the Partenopei won 2-0, while Seri was heavily linked with a €40m transfer to Barcelona over the weekend.
However, the Coach said at a Press conference :“I don’t know if they’ll play, but I hope they’re ready. We must try to grow in possession and stay tight.
“Qualification? We believe in it, although Napoli are a great team and will play 90 percent of the team that played in the first leg.
“Seri? He’ll be with us tomorrow and we’ll try to have a great game together.
“We need to have a great game, we’ll have to be strong tactically, do well going forward but also defensively.
“Mertens and Insigne out? For us, it’s more significant to understand how to overcome the Albiol-Koulibaly pairing.
“They always build up attacks and are crucial to Napoli. I didn’t know about Mertens’ absence, but that’s just one change.
“We have to be almost perfect tomorrow if we want to go through. We’re facing a team that are among the best in Italy, who have played together for several years and so will be complicated.
“Our supporters have always supported us, and tomorrow they’ll be able to help us, but it’s up to us if we have a great game tomorrow.”
