Yonghong Li flew in this morning from New York and will be at San Siro tomorrow night.

“The President will be there too. Over the last few games, we’ve felt the love of our fans and want a great performance tomorrow as well,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“At the moment, this enthusiasm is helping to give us energy. However, I don’t want it to become euphoria, because that is dangerous. We’re dealing with everything in a balanced way, concentrated on one target at a time to the end.

“Cagliari always seem to cause us problems and they did last season, too. It’s a dangerous match for us, as they have great individual talents, especially in attack. It’s a classic Serie A game.”

So far, Montella’s men have won all five competitive games this season, not conceding a single goal.

“It’s a pleasing statistic, but we must continue to work hard and balance defence with attack. We tested the three-man defence for the first time at Shkendija, but there were many elements missing. We’ll re-evaluate it at a later date, but for the moment it is shelved.”

Kalinic has now joined Milan and is expected to be on the bench against Cagliari after his transfer from Fiorentina.

“We are very happy to have Kalinic, Andre Silva and Patrick Cutrone and playing every three days, there will be room for everyone. Nikola is training with the side, a little bit behind the others physically, but he has a chance of playing tomorrow. Lucas Biglia has also improved a lot and we’ll see how he is today.

“I have always believed that a winning team is based on its own youth products. It brings a sense of belonging and allows the club to save money on transfer fees, spending the budget only on the really big players. As long as they deserve it, Milan’s young players will always have their space with me.”
