According to Tuttomercato, Stadio Olimpico Coach Simone Inzaghi told the Lazio hierarchy that it is of paramount importance for the club to bring in a new defensive recruit following the departure of Hoedt.

And Argentine Paletta, who is out of favour at the San Siro, appears the most likely and realistic target at this stage of the window.

Paletta’s agent, Martin Guatadisegno, yesterday said that his client may yet remain at Milan beyond tonight’s deadline.

However, he made it clear that the 31-year-old is keen to move in order to secure regular first team football.

Lazio are said to have made an offer for the centre-back which was rejected by the Rossoneri. With time running out and the situation currently at a stalemate, the Aquile will have to raise their offer quickly if they are to land their target.
