“How could I regret [joining] Milan? It was a year in which I grew so much,” he told Il Secolo XIX.

“No-one asked me to leave, but this is a decisive year for my career and I decided to go where I could play 100 percent.

“After my year at Pescara, I had so many offers but chose Genoa. Yet Milan came in at the last minute and I couldn’t say ‘no’ to them.

“Still, Genoa continued to have great confidence in me, the President and Coach have longed for me, and I believe Genoa is the right place for me.”
