Marek Hamsik's agent says Mino Raiola was right, as his client “married Napoli 10 years ago and never wanted to leave”.
The Slovakian international was previously represented by Raiola but broke off relations, reportedly because the agent wanted him to leave the San Paolo.
Raiola claimed this week that he had in fact been ready to renew Hamsik’s contract, as he wanted to stay with the Partenopei for life.
“He still doesn’t know what he’ll do at the end of his career,” Juraj Venglos said on Radio Crc.
“What Mino says is true though, not everyone is like Marek. He married Napoli 10 years ago and has never wanted to move. He loves this city and these colours.
“I hope he can break [Diego] Maradona’s record this month, he’s only two goals short but the real reason he wants to score is so Napoli can win something.
“The Scudetto? The Azzurri can and must do it. It’s true that there’s Juventus, but also Inter and Milan, the crucial thing is overcoming that critical period between February and March and then playing for everything.”
Hamsik has actually been substituted several times at the beginning of the campaign, but Venglos assures there’s no issue.
“Marek is very happy with Napoli’s start to the season, he accepted all the substitutions not just very professionally but he actually agreed with the Coach [Maurizio Sarri].
“There’s great respect for roles, sometimes they were dictated by tactical reasons, others because they wanted to save him.
“It’s a long season and Marek wants to be in top condition to reach important goals.”
Slovakia lost to England on Monday night, but Hamsik’s agent believes they can still reach the play-offs.
“Slovakia played a good game in England,” Venglos said.
“I spoke to Marek shortly after, he was disappointed but he was confident that they can play in Scotland where they need to win or draw.”
