Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini reveals he “turned down €25m” in transfers to keep his stars for a swift return to Serie A.
The Rosanero were relegated in May and a potential takeover by businessman Paul Baccaglini was abandoned.
“I received offers from Serie A and Germany for Haitam Aleesami, Ivaylo Chochev and Mato Jajalo, who are all internationals and made their mark on the European stage,” revealed Zamparini on the official club website.
“Torino asked me for both Andrea Rispoli and Ilija Nestorovski. But I couldn’t sell them because Palermo want to go back into Serie A.
“Those rumours that we had to sell to avoid bankruptcy were untrue. Over the summer I turned down €25m because I want to bring this side back into the top flight.”
