Hat-trick hero Ciro Immobile was Man of the Match, but how did his Lazio teammates fare in the Football Italia Player Ratings?

Words: Marcello Cossali-Francis

Lazio

Thomas Strakosha – 6

Was one of those games where neither keeper really made many big saves. Strakosha might be slightly irritated that he could not keep the clean sheet, but otherwise looked comfortable. An easy day for him.

Lazio

Thomas Strakosha – 6

Was one of those games where neither keeper really made many big saves. Strakosha might be slightly irritated that he could not keep the clean sheet, but otherwise looked comfortable. An easy day for him.

Stefan Radu – 7

The Lazio defence looked solid today and Radu impressed as part of the back three. Managed to keep Patrick Cutrone and Fabio Borini out of the game without having too many problems.

Stefan de Vrij – 7

Defended well and did a good job at keeping Cutrone out of the game. When Milan started having all the ball, De Vrij martialled his defensive line well and ensured Milan could not get back into the game.

Wallace – N/A

Came off injured after 14 minutes.

Dusan Basta – 7

Worked well in a midfield which dominated Milan for large parts of the game. Was full of energy and did well to get forward and support Ciro Immobile and Luis Alberto. Was not as influential as he would have liked, but the others more than made up for it.

Marco Parolo – 7

Played a key pass in setting up Immobile’s hat-trick goal and was influential throughout the game with his passing and link-up play. However, his red card right at the end of the game was needless and stupid considering they were 4-1 up. The only real downside of today for Lazio which will irritate Inzaghi.

Lucas Leiva – 7

Was solid in doing what Lucas does, protecting the defence and allowing the attacking players to get forward. His experience will be key for Lazio this season and he did not put a foot wrong today.

Senad Lulic – 8

Started to look a little tired towards the end of the game, but did provide an assist for Immobile’s second goal of the match and looked dangerous with the ball going forward. Kept the ball well and moved it quickly to get through the Milan midfield.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic – 7

Another player who went a little under the radar due to Luis Alberto and Immobile. Attacked well and provided support to the front two. Was a constant threat down the left for Davide Calabria, who could not deal with him.

Luis Alberto – 9

Had it not been for Immobile’s hat-trick, Luis Alberto would have been man of the match. He was part of everything that went well for Lazio and won the penalty in the first half, as well as scoring the fourth goal himself. Very impressive performance from the Spaniard, who looks to have formed quite the partnership with Immobile.

Immobile – 10

Not often that 10’s are handed out, but Immobile is starting to look like the full package. His penalty was textbook, powerful and right in the corner. His second goal was technically superb, as he volleyed into the top corner at the far post. His third was a typical, poacher’s finish and he laid it on a plate for Alberto and Lazio’s fourth. Was a constant threat to Milan and thoroughly deserves all the plaudits.

Substitutes

Bastos – 7

Could have scored within a minute of coming on, but could not divert Alberto’s corner into the net. Somehow. Looked comfortable in defence and was solid throughout. Was unlucky to have played Riccardo Montolivo onside for Milan’s goal, but no blame can be attached.

Jordan Lukaku – 6

Looked lively when he came on and got forward when he could. Might have had himself a goal right at the end, but was unable to get on the end of a low cross

Luiz Felipe – N/A

Only played 10 minutes to add extra legs to the defence in the final stages.
