SPAL striker Marco Borriello says Inter midfielder Joao Mario’s “angel flight” wasn’t worthy of a penalty on Sunday.
The Video Assistant Referee awarded the Nerazzurri a penalty in the first half, which Mauro Icardi converted, before Ivan Perisic sealed the win in the second half.
“It would be wonderful to win all your matches or always score,” Borriello wrote on Instagram.
“Unfortunately we sometimes have to deal with a whole series of motives: technical, physical, VAR [unfortunately negatively for us this Sunday] etc etc.
“The only remedy I know is to continue to work to keep improving, patiently waiting for the next opportunity. Good week to all, Forza SPAL.”
Followers then commented on the penalty incident, and Borriello replied with his thoughts.
“In my humble opinion it wasn’t a penalty, I’ve seen it 67 times in slow motion. If they’re giving penalties like that our matches will end up like water polo.
“The jockeying from our defender doesn’t justify Joao Mario’s angel flight.
“That said, Inter are a great team, very tough, they’ll have a great season. I can also tell you that [Milan] Skriniar is a beast, so strong!
“Well done to Inter for getting him.”
