Arkadiusz Milik insists he is “100 per cent ready and if anything a stronger player” after his injury, as Napoli visit Shakhtar Donetsk.
The Champions League clash kicks off in Kharkiv on Wednesday at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).
Milik was chosen for the Press conference, partly because he bagged a brace in Ukraine a year ago in the 2-1 win over Dinamo Kiev.
“I remember the two goals, which helped me a great deal. I don’t know if I will start tomorrow, but I am not here to talk about me. Napoli are here and we are working as a team, with the mentality of seeking a team target,” said the Polish striker in his presser.
That was a bright start to his Partenopei experience, but in October 2016 sustained a serious knee ligament injury.
“I can confirm that I am 100 per cent fit to play tomorrow. The Coach will decide, but I already played an important game at international level and can assure you I am 100 per cent ready.
“I don’t think I’ve lost confidence over the past year. If anything, I have grown as a player. Not being able to train for a certain period, I dedicated my time to psychological work. I became stronger mentally, now have no physical issues and am 100 per cent fit.”
Napoli are in the same group as Shakhtar Donetsk, Manchester City and champions of Holland Feyenoord.
“It is a very tough group, because we’ve got the champions of Holland, the champions of Ukraine and everyone knows City’s strength,” continued Milik.
“Every game will be fundamental. Shakhtar are a strong and complete side with important players, so we must play our football and create many scoring opportunities. I can assure you we’ll do everything possible to win tomorrow.”
