Stefan de Vrij assures “there’s no risk” of Lazio underestimating Vitesse in the Europa League tomorrow.

The Europa League opener kicks off in Arnhem on Thursday at 20.05 UK time (19.05 GMT).

“We gave so much to get back into Europe and now want to start well,” said the Dutch defender in his Press conference.

“We studied Vitesse, a team that really know how to play the ball, are quick in attack and have a lot of quality. We’ll need the utmost concentration and there’s no risk of underestimating them.

“It’s lovely for me to be back in Holland and many of my family members will be in the stands tomorrow. I don’t know if I’ll actually start, as the Coach has many options.

“I haven’t felt this good in a long time. The knee feels great after the operation and I played consistently for the international team too. I don’t have any problems the day after a match. The most I’ve got now is a bit of a cold.”

De Vrij is in negotiations to extend his Lazio contract, which is due to expire at the end of this season.

“We are talking. There was a meeting after the Italian Super Cup against Juventus and another is planned soon. There has always been a good rapport.”
