Luigi Del Neri declared himself pleased with Udinese despite their 2-1 defeat to Milan.

The Bianconeri were beaten at the San Siro by a pair of Nikola Kalinic goals, despite briefly getting back on level terms through Kevin Lasagna.

Speaking post-match, the experienced tactician admitted he was disappointed with the manner of Kalinic’s winner.

“It was a shame about the second goal we conceded,” Del Neri began.

“It came from a situation we could have dealt with.

“We stayed in the game until the end and missed the chance right at the end to draw through Bajic.”

Del Neri did, however, see reasons to be optimistic about his teams chances for the season ahead.

“We have the right spirit, just as we have the right desire and application.

“I was pleased with the team.”
