Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis “got palpitations” when seeing that remarkable Dries Mertens goal against Lazio.
The little Belgian had been pushed out wide by Thomas Strakosha, but turned and placed his lob into the far top corner before the goalkeeper could get back into position.
“I didn’t expect it, I saw this ball go into the very top corner: I was stunned and enchanted!” De Laurentiis told Radio 24 from Los Angeles.
“I let it swirl around my taste buds for a few minutes, I really couldn’t believe it! Every now and then they brought me some coffee with a particular blend from Torre Annunziata and I got palpitations!”
De Laurentiis was asked if he would reward Mertens with a gift.
“He already gave us a gift, it would be vulgar to respond with another present, no?”
