Riccardo Orsolini’s agent reveals the Juventus-owned winger could leave Atalanta in January if he doesn’t get more playing time and was “on the verge for PSV.”

The 20-year-old was bought from Ascoli for €6m plus up to €4m bonuses and has not been sent to Atalanta on a two-year loan deal, but so far managed only 49 minutes of football in three games.

“I had hoped for more minutes on the field, but I also understand Gian Piero Gasperini’s position,” agent Donato Di Campli told Tuttosport.

“So far Riccardo has only played chunks of games, but they were all positive. He earned a penalty against Chievo, had a goal disallowed with Crotone and made a good impression against Fiorentina too.

“We are waiting for his first start and I think Juventus hope for that too, as they expect great things of the lad. The two-year loan in Bergamo was agreed with the Bianconeri directors.

“This summer, Orsolini could’ve gone anywhere. He was on the verge of a loan deal with PSV Eindhoven. We have no regrets, because Atalanta are an important club and the ideal environment for a talent that is ready to blossom.

“Orsolini has everything it takes to make his mark in Bergamo and I am sure his moment will come. Obviously, if Riccardo doesn’t get consistent playing time, logically we’d have to re-evaluate the situation in January.”

Meanwhile, this evening Orsolini is expected to be on the bench against his parent club, though Leonardo Spinazzola and Mattia Caldara – also on loan from Juve – should start.

“It’s a special game for him. He really wants to show what he can do, but he’s experiencing this situation with great maturity and calm. He’s not the kind of guy who needs to be motivated with DVDs or anecdotes about other champions. He’s 20 years old and lives football 24 hours a day.

“You’ll see, in two or three years, Orsolini will be playing for Juventus. I’m willing to bet my commission on his contract and a dinner at the most luxurious restaurant in Montecarlo.”
