Vincenzo Montella insists “I see a higher quality of play” from Milan - “it takes time”.
The Rossoneri have lost their last three Serie A games in a row, putting pressure on the Coach ahead of tomorrow’s Europa League clash with AEK Athens.
“When things go wrong it’s everyone’s fault, we have to accept the criticism, even when it’s exaggerated,” Montella said in his pre-match Press conference.
“Against Roma we got closer to the quality of play we need, we lost the game on a rebound. The club made choices for the here and now, but above all for the future.
“Everything is going to plan aside from a few defeats, which I take responsibility for, but if they hadn’t happened we’d be talking about a balanced situation.
“I see a higher quality of play all the time, it takes time to do these things and that’s proving to be the case.
“We have players who can and must grow, it’s a good base to build from.
“Inter? The performance was there, the team could have had a different result which would have been the spark to make that leap forward.
“It’ll come, right now we need a flame, and we have to be good to spark it.”
Montella also discussed tomorrow’s opponents.
“In Europe the matches are always difficult. I expect an aggressive game from a tough opponent with quality, they won’t make mistakes with the final ball.
“After Atalanta they’re the team with the most shots on target, so we have to do well because we’re facing a very clinical team.
“They adapt tactically to their opponent, they have quality up front and they’re very quick. We need to have the utmost concentration to limit that asset.”
