The Spanish striker bagged a brace in tonight’s Coppa Italia semi-final first leg, while Paulo Dybala completed the rout.

“The truth is this has been a pretty tough time for me, not just on the field but off it, as I had many problems in my mind,” Morata told Rai Sport.

“I have to leave it all behind me when I step on to the field. Big champions have had difficult moments, so of course I can too.

“I hope it’s behind me, this night has been very important for me. I once again thank my teammates in this incredible team, as they always speak to me every day and give me the kind of support that is not the norm.

“The breakthrough arrived a little late, but at least it’s here. I’ve been working every day to find form and feel I am a different player to yesterday. A striker lives for goals and I hope to get many more.”

Morata’s last goal was against Bologna on October 4.
