Max Allegri both complimented and criticised Juventus for being “too hasty” in the 2-1 victory over Benevento.

Amato Ciciretti’s free kick had given the lead to bottom of the table Benevento in the first half, but Gonzalo Higuain and Juan Cuadrado turned it around.

“I have to compliment the lads today, because we went behind to the only shot on goal of the first half. It seemed like a cursed game, but we needed to be calm, sharp and not too hasty,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“After going 2-1 up, we continued to run risks on a few corners and counter-attacks. It was not easy today, because after turning it around, we thought it might be over. These games are always complicated.”

Claudio Marchisio made his first Serie A start since August, while Paulo Dybala again failed to find the net.

“Dybala had a good game. He could’ve scored more goals in his 17 competitive matches so far this season, but just needs to rediscover his sharpness and form.

“Marchisio did well and I didn’t expect him to last the whole match, but I’m happy with his performance.”

With Inter and Napoli held to draws today by Torino and Chievo respectively, Juve climbed into second place.

“Napoli are doing extraordinary things, as are Inter and Roma. Winning games is never easy or to be taken for granted.

“The Serie A season is 38 rounds and I always say we need to go at cruising speed, because too many bumps and waves make you feel ill.”

“This is a great side and will fight to the end.”
