Paulo Dybala admits “it’ll be strange not to see Italy at the World Cup” but believes their no-show can “help them change their style of play.”
Dybala’s Juve teammates in the Italy squad not be joining him in Russia after they lost to Sweden in the playoffs, but while the forward was ‘sorry’ for his colleagues, he felt the disappointment could benefit the Azzurri in the long run.
“It’ll be strange not to see the Azzurri at the World Cup,” he told ESPN before Argentina’s 4-2 defeat to Nigeria on Tuesday.
“However, I think it can help them change their style of play a bit, given they’ve had some difficulties lately.
“It’s a shame because I have several teammates in the Italy squad, who had their own dreams, and I’m sorry they won’t be there.”
