Verona sporting director Filippo Fusco says it would be “pointless” to sack Coach Fabio Pecchia at this point.
The Butei lost their fifth match in a row last night, going down 3-2 at home to Bologna, and it has been suggested the tactician could be given his marching orders.
“There’s great regret and bitterness at the defeat,” Fusco said in the mixed zone after the match.
“The results still aren’t coming despite positive performances, we played well tonight and this defeat really is mocking us.
“We’re coming off five defeats in a row, that’s true, but it was only in Cagliari where we didn’t see a team. This evening, without a five minute blackout we could have taken the points.
“That’s why the regret is double tonight, we felt we could win it and were once again punished by incidents, which is not to make excuses.
“Changing the Coach? I think it’s pointless to change, the players are 100 per cent behind Pecchia and it doesn’t make sense to change the Coach when performances are positive.
