Leonardo Semplici said SPAL “go home angry, because we should’ve finished it off” after fumbling their lead to lose 2-1 at Chievo.

They had dominated the first half at the Stadio Bentegodi and gone in front through a Bostjan Cesar own goal with Stefano Sorrentino decisive on a series of efforts.

However, Roberto Inglese’s brace in the second half turned it around.

“We go home angry, because we should’ve finished it off when we had the chance,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“Now we’ve got to leave this game behind us. I didn’t like the fact we left the game open and gave Chievo hope, as we did everything necessary to seal the win.

“If the three points don’t come today after we had five or six chances, in which even a draw would’ve been unfair, then the situation is serious. We’ve got to change attitude and mentality. Their goalkeeper was Man of the Match, so that says it all about our performance.

Roma are up next and they are in good shape, with experience and quality. We need a more than perfect game to get a result.”

Manuel Lazzari’s cross-shot caused the own goal and he is impressing in his debut Serie A season.

“Lazzari started out from the youth academy and worked his way up through every level to earn this shot at the top flight. I think he can become a transfer target for many clubs.”
