Former Napoli and Juventus defender Ciro Ferrara admits his heart is going for the Partenopei ahead of Friday’s Serie A showdown.

Ferrara turned out for only Napoli and Juve in his playing career, forming part of the squads that won the Bianconeri’s last Champions League in 1996 and the southerners’ most recent Scudetto success six years before.

“I feel it so much, even more so now that I’m no longer a player,” he told La Stampa.

“It’s my destiny as I made my debut against the Bianconeri and I didn’t play for any other clubs.

“I lived through the most beautiful season in the Azzurri’s history and won so many trophies with Juve.

“For Napoli, it’s not just the game of the season: winning is important for the title, like it was in my time.

“Decisive? I don’t think so. There’s still a long way to go, but certainly a victory for Napoli would send out an even stronger signal to the rest of the League.

“A seven-point lead wouldn’t give any guarantees, but it would strike a blow as Juve and Inter cross paths next, and that could give Napoli a chance to stretch their lead further.

“As for the Bianconeri, beyond the narrow distances, a win would greatly boost their morale.

“Scudetto? Of course, Napoli and Juventus are the most well-equipped, but we must also look at Inter, neither can we rule out Roma.

“Who do I support? Juventus have won six Scudetti in a row, but they can give one up: my heart says Napoli and I hope to experience this great satisfaction.”
