“The team deserves praise because they never gave in, never stopped believing, and I don’t just mean today,” De Zerbi told Sky Sport Italia of the 2-2 draw.
“I know full well how Milan feel right now, having conceded last-gasp goals against Cagliari and Sassuolo. We celebrated perhaps too much for a point, but I can assure you that after all these defeats, we really needed this. It was above all a thoroughly-deserved result.
“I was tired of going to Cagliari, Juventus and Atalanta, playing good football and then emerging with zero points. People only remember the results, not the performances, but I am proud of this squad.
“Scoring a goal with our ‘keeper must be the boost we need. We’ve got so many negative records, but we’ve now made headlines for another historic moment, a positive one.”
