Words: Ciro Di Brita – @Ciruzzo36

Gianluigi Donnarumma – 6

Made a decent save in the move that led to the George Puscas goal, couldn’t do much about the follow-up. Then made another fine stop to deny Marco D’Alessandro. Could only stand and watch as fellow goalkeeper Alberto Brignoli headed past him.

Mateo Musacchio – 6

Saw a lot of the ball early in the game and was strong in the tackle.

Leonardo Bonucci – 7

Defended well, looking like he is regaining his form.

Alessio Romagnoli – 4

Was harshly booked for a handball from point-blank range just outside his own box. Received a second yellow when he went to ground to stop a Benevento player running through on goal in a contentious decision.

Fabio Borini – 5

Worked hard up and down the right flank, made some fine defensive interceptions, but added nothing going forward.

Franck Kessie – 6

Tried to drive his team further up the pitch and was involved in Milan’s opening goal.

Riccardo Montolivo – 5

Was slow and ponderous on the ball and gave it away all too often.

Ricardo Rodriguez – 5

Was up and down the left wing like a yoyo, joining the attack and maintaining his defensives duties.

Giacomo Bonaventura – 6

Played in a more familiar attacking role and was ready to head his side into the lead.

Suso – 5

Looked dangerous every time he got the ball, but faded from the game when he was needed to get in there and keep possession.

Nikola Kalinic – 6

Was a spectator in the first half. Scored in the second from a corner that should never have been a corner.

Substitutes:

Ignazio Abate – 4

Replaced Borini on the hour mark and didn’t do anything different than the former Roma man, other than give the free kick away that led to the most outrageous goal you’ll see this season, scored by a goalkeeper that he should have been marking.

Lucas Biglia – N/A

Came on for Montolivo and had to do a bit more defending than he hoped to after Milan went down to 10 men.

Cristian Zapata – N/A

Gattuso threw him on for the last five minutes to hang on to the lead, but couldn’t defend against a goalkeeper scoring.
