“It’s a beautiful moment that represents hard work and sacrifice over all these years at Inter. Today, in my fifth season in Milan, I have entered the history of this club as one of the top 10 scorers of all time.

“Thanks to all of you for the support you give me every day.”

Icardi is the third Inter player to have scored at least 15 goals in four consecutive Serie A seasons. The others were Giuseppe Meazza (1930-36) and Stefano Nyers (1949-53).

He is also now on 97 Serie A goals between Sampdoria and Inter and can become only the sixth player to manage a Century before turning 25.

The others are Giuseppe Meazza, Silvio Piola, Giampiero Boniperti, Felice Borel and Jose Altafini.
