The first was Gomez, who has been frozen out of the Rossoneri squad making just one substitute appearance in the Europa League so far.

It’s thought the Diavolo are keen to offload the Paraguayan in January, though Brighton would face competition from Boca Juniors.

In addition, the website reports, enquiries were made about Inter centre-back Andrea Ranocchia.

The Italian international spent the second half of last season on loan at Hull City, and the Seagulls consider him their first choice of the two.

However, the Nerazzurri have just three fit centre-backs, so if Miranda or Milan Skriniar were to pick up an injury Luciano Spalletti’s squad would be seriously short of options.

Youngster Zinho Vanheusden is out with a cruciate ligament injury, so Ranocchia would only be allowed to leave if they could get a replacement in the January window.
