Paolo Cannavaro’s father confirms the Sassuolo defender will move to China and “start immediately alongside Fabio”.
It was reported yesterday that the veteran centre-back would join his brother at Guangzhou Evergrande, where the World Cup winner is the Coach.
The 36-year-old is likely to join his brother’s staff, be he could perhaps play on for one more season.
“It was a choice he evaluated well,” Pasquale Cannavaro said on Radio Marte.
“He’s almost 37 now and he has to think about what will come after he stops playing football. So he chose very well in starting immediately alongside Fabio.”
Cannavaro's agent also confirmed the move.
"Yes, he'll follow his brother to China. He's already talked to the Sassuolo hierarchy.
"There's a bit of indecision, but in the end he'll go to China."
