Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich are another European giant who the Giallorossi could face, after they finished behind Paris Saint-Germain in the group stage.

Carlo Ancelotti was sacked after a defeat in the Parc des Princes, but they’ve won all but two games since Jupp Heynckes returned to replace the Italian on the bench.

The Lupi have bad memories of facing Bayern, as the 2014-15 season saw them battered 7-1 by Pep Guardiola’s side at the Olimpico, before a 2-0 loss at the Allianz Arena.

Sevilla

Roma drawing Sevilla would be a particularly emotional tie for one man: sporting director Monchi.

The former goalkeeper spent his entire playing career with Los Rojiblancos, before taking over as sporting director in 2000.

The Spaniard became renowned as one of the best in the world in that role, signing the likes of Dani Alves, Ivan Rakitic and Federico Fazio.

Sevilla have met Roma in friendlies in recent years, including a crazy 6-4 win for the Giallorossi at the Olimpico ahead of the 2015-16 season.

Paulo Fonseca’s side beat Maurizio Sarri’s in Ukraine, and secured a place in the Last 16 by becoming the first team this season to beat Manchester City.

Shakhtar currently play their matches in Kharkiv, as the ongoing civil was in Ukraine means their home city of Donetsk is unsafe.

The last time Roma met Shakhtar was at the Last 16 stage in 2011, and they lost both matches to go out 6-2 on aggregate.
