Fabio Pecchia “expected a different performance” from his Verona side against Milan and hopes they learn from it for Sunday.

Hellas were swept aside 3-0 at San Siro by Suso, Alessio Romagnoli and Patrick Cutrone in the Coppa Italia Round of 16 tie.

“We had a good approach to the game for 15 minutes, the right character and desire to fight it out, but then we should’ve been more determined and paid a heavy price for being too superficial.

“We had a good approach to the game for 15 minutes, the right character and desire to fight it out, but then we should’ve been more determined and paid a heavy price for being too superficial.

“There is anger, as we created chances, but were visibly not convinced that we could really hurt Milan. I am disappointed, as I expected a different performance.”

Curiously, the two teams will meet again at the Stadio Bentegodi in Serie A on Sunday.

“We’ve got to roll our sleeves up and I am convinced we’ll have a different approach and attitude when we meet on Sunday. We’ll need it if we want to get a result.

“It’s too early to talk about the transfer market. I need to get the best out of my players and recuperate some of them. Meanwhile, we have important games to be played and I want to concentrate exclusively on those.”
