Who stood out in a heart-stopping victory over Cagliari and which Roma players struggled in the Football Italia Player Ratings?

Words: Ciro Di Brita – @Ciruzzo36

Alisson  6

Was nice and alert in goal and commanded his area assuredly, even though he was never truly tested.

Alessandro Florenzi – 6

Had some undercooked crosses in the first half and was sloppy in possession inside his own box on one occasion which could resulted in an opportunity for Cagliari. Stepped it up a little in the second half.

Federico Fazio – 8

Stood tall defensively, which is easy enough for him. Scored the winning goal in injury time when a stroke of luck saw the ball bounce off him and over the line.

Kostas Manolas –  7

Dominated Leonardo Pavoletti in the air and on the ground in the first half. Had nothing to do in the second, could have sat down, had a coffee and watched the game.

Aleksander Kolarov – 6

Started off bright, but his forays forward dried up as the game went on. His vicious free kick created the winning goal.

Lorenzo Pellegrini– 6

Showcased his talent and rawness in the central midfield role by producing some nice touches and good technique only to then sloppily give the ball away.

Daniele De Rossi –  6

Was the recipient of a two-footed challenge by Joao Pedro which he didn’t react to and then led his team as they squeaked over the line to win the three points.

Radja Nainggolan – 6

His piledriver from outside the box was well saved by Alessio Cragno in the opening half, faded from the game in the second.

Patrick Schick– 6

Tough night, slogged away trying to get into the game, but is lacking match sharpness and is unfamiliar with his new teammates.

Edin Dzeko – 6

Didn’t get a sniff in the first half. Won a soft penalty at the start of the second.

Diego Perotti – 6

Looked to get on the ball and weave his way past the Cagliari defence, was able to beat one or two players, but not four or five. His terrible penalty was saved by Cragno, who easily psyched out the Argentine.

Substitutes:

Stephan El Shaarawy– 6

Replaced Luca Pellegrini and had some decent runs, but his teammates were unable to pick him out.

Kevin Strootman– 6

Got 10 minutes at the end of the game to put some match time in his legs ahead of Juventus next week.

Cengiz Under– 5.5

Tried to create something out of nothing when he came on for the last few minutes, ended up just blasting it high and wide.
