Cagliari goalkeeper Alessio Cragno has doubts over the Roma penalty, but had studied Diego Perotti’s spot-kick technique.

“We had been able to snatch a point, but on the final chance we were unlucky and conceded the goal on a ricochet,” he told Mediaset Premium after a 1-0 defeat at the Olimpico.

Cragno had given away a penalty for a challenge on Edin Dzeko – which the referee had originally considered a dive worthy of a booking for the Bosnian – and then saved the Perotti spot-kick.

“There was contact, but I don’t know if it was Dzeko hitting me or me hitting Dzeko. I tried to get everything out of the way, so I don’t know. It’s one of those dubious penalties.

“With Perotti, I knew that I had to wait until the last second. If you take even half a step in one direction or the other, he’ll send you the wrong way. I had to stay absolutely still and move only once he’d struck the ball. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for a result.”
