Torino striker Andrea Belotti has avoided a serious knee injury after the club confirmed his problem was only a ‘sprain’.

It had been feared that Belotti damaged knee ligaments during training on Wednesday, but a medical report on Torino’s official website assured the 24-year-old instead suffered “a sprain to his right knee.”

Hhe will undergo more tests to discover how long he will be out for, with Tuttosport expecting the attacker to miss the Granata’s next game against Genoa on Saturday but be back for the derby against Juventus in the Coppa Italia on January 3.

Belotti sustained a ligament injury back in October and spent the following month on the sidelines.
