Luciano Spalletti’s remit was to take the Nerazzurri into the Champions League, while Simone Inzaghi is looking to enter the competition for the first time.

Roma, meanwhile are looking to defend third place. Below are all the permutations for the final day.

For Roma to finish third…

Roma only need to draw to finish in third place, as they have a head-to-head advantage over city rivals Lazio.

Only bragging rights are at stake, as every team in the top four will go straight to the Champions League group stages.

For Lazio to finish third…

The Biancocelesti have to beat Inter, and hope that Roma don’t win at Sassuolo.

For Inter to finish fourth…

Inter have to win to qualify for the Champions League, no other result will do.

December’s clash at San Siro finished 0-0, so as long as the Beneamata take three points they’ll finish above Lazio due to the head-to-head record.

It’s win or bust for Spalletti’s men, who could be playing against their future defender Stefan de Vrij, who has already signed for next season.
