Real Madrid are refusing to let the midfielder leave, but Inter boss Luciano Spalletti confirmed last night that the player is interested in making a move to San Siro.

“From what I know, not only has Modric thought about Inter, but he really likes the idea of being a protagonist in Serie A with the Nerazzurri,” Croatian agent Marko Naletilic told Tuttosport.

“We’ll see what happens. My feeling is that, sooner or later, he’ll play in Italy. Like many Croatians of his age, he grew up watching Serie A on television.”

The 1990s were the golden era for Italian football, but this season Cristiano Ronaldo’s switch to Juventus has put Serie A back on the map.

“The mere fact Inter tried for Modric and he genuinely considered it shows how much Ronaldo is influencing all of Italian football,” added Naletilic.
