Duvan Zapata had been able to get the Orobici back on level terms after a Fabian Ruiz opener 76 seconds in, but Arkadiusz Milik came off the bench to score the winner.

“We were struggling a bit towards the end and Napoli’s substitutions gave them more vivacity,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“It was a good performance, considering we went behind straight away. We lacked a bit of energy in the decisive moment and got there a little late to the ball in a few situations.

“We were missing Josip Ilicic and Rafael Toloi, while Djimsiti wasn’t fully fit, but the lads fought hard against a very strong team and Atalanta were by no means inferior this evening.”

Not only did Duvan Zapata score the temporarily equaliser against his former club, he was also a constant thorn in Napoli’s side.

“Zapata played with energy and created quite a few problems for Napoli, but in general I am happy with the team as a whole.”
