Eusebio Di Francesco urged Patrik Schick to ‘keep working on becoming more clinical’ after the Roma striker scored a brace against Virtus Entella.

Schick netted twice and assisted Ivan Marcano in a 4-0 Roma win on Monday, which booked them a Coppa Italia quarter-final date with Fiorentina, and Di Francesco made it clear the performance was only the beginning for the Czech.

“He had a good game, even though he always satisfies me,” the Coach said after the game.

“He could’ve scored more goals, so he must keep working on becoming more clinical in front of goal, even in training. He mustn’t be satisfied.

“Now he’s turned the page, playing regularly and giving the right performances. He’s growing. Some players grow at different rates.

“He plays for a club where it isn’t easy to do so, with the weight of his transfer fee on his shoulders.

“You can’t have everything right away, but he’s shown some important qualities in training and matches. Now he must keep improving and attack our opponents’ goal more.

“Riccardi has quality. I don’t just play people to make them happy. I felt that if there was the possibility, I’d have played him.

“He’s a good prospect and he’s been training with us lately. Juan Jesus? He had some knee discomfort, so we’ll assess him.

“Staying in the Champions League is crucial for many reasons. We’ve done some great things, even if they’ve been forgotten quickly.

“Now we have to do well in all the competitions we’re in, knowing that we’re improving in certain mechanisms, and I’m very happy about that.

“Karsdorp has some great tools, although he has to improve defensively. Work is done differently in the Netherlands.

“He had no real run in the team because of injuries, but he has great tenacity and physical abilities.

“He put in some important balls and tends to make the right decision when he has the ball, since he was originally an attacker like Florenzi.

“I like those kinds of full-backs. Kolarov? We need more players like him and we ought to clone him for his mentality.

“He’s the first to arrive for training and the last to go home. These things are most important and they also set an example for the younger lads.”
